Our vision

Today, Stanton House continues to hold to its original purpose: to provide space for Christians, both individuals and groups, to meet to discern God’s call on their lives; a place to grow closer to Him through reflection and prayer. The house and grounds provide the perfect place to stand back a little from the pressures of life and seek rest, renewal and adjustment in the presence of an ever loving God. We believe that regular retreating can be deeply healing to the soul.

Retreating to a place dedicated to prayer, away from our normal routines and surroundings, is a priceless gift. In this new season, as well as the hospitality and informal spirituality of the House, we have introduced guided retreats, a rhythm of ‘morning and evening prayer’, and the option for you to have a silent retreat should you wish.

As the 50th anniversary of Stanton House approaches, the Trustees of Stanton House want to share their vision for sustaining this jewel in the Oxfordshire countryside to benefit future generations of Christians and spiritual seekers.

Stanton House is looking to embark upon a new phase of investment over the next 10 years to continue to serve and bless its visitors. Our core mission remains to offer rest, renewal and restoration, but change is a necessary step to achieve financial stability and meet the challenges of the 21st century. The building requires structural maintenance and internal upgrades, and we want to expand the services and outreach we provide, as well as engaging more deeply with the community and the environment in which Stanton House is situated.

Our vision is:

-        to renew and restore our resources.

-        to engage more deeply with our natural and social environment.

-        to expand the ways in which we invite people into rest.

By sharing this vision, we hope that we can encourage you to join us on this journey. You can support us by sharing the message or volunteering your time. You could come on retreat or join the team. Or you could support us financially to enable us to fulfil the vision. We estimate that the necessary works will cost £400K, over a three-phase programme.

We invite you to ‘come away and rest for a while’.
