Songs in the Key of Life

A contemporary look at the Psalms

This Spirituality day explores the link between contemporary song writers and the Psalmists, both of whom express truths about life and our experiences of it.

Come and consider how contemporary songs, alongside the Psalms, can feed our spirituality and help us understand what it is to be human.

The structure of the day is based around three songs, one by Bjork, one by Stevie Wonder and another by the Black Eyed Peas, presented alongside Psalms 1, 51 and 150.
Spiritual exercises are offered to assist the attendees explore their response to each song and psalm.

The retreat is led by Steve Marsh - a Pioneer Minister in the Diocese of St Albans - and takes its name from a Stevie Wonder album, the cover of which is shown. Steve is keen to help people sense God working in contemporary culture alongside the inspiration of God’s voice in our rich Biblical heritage.

‘Songs in the Key of Life’ could well be seen as a contemporary title for the book of Psalms.

Introductory price per person: £45

The retreat includes a 2 course lunch, refreshments and afternoon tea/cake.
